Hi all. I tried using ad-aware 1.05 s e personal. well the accessibility for that version is horhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrible. I have heard that ad-aware 6 is much more accessible. Does anyone know where I can download that version?

Personally, I find Spybot S&D to be much more accessible than Add aware. Spybot is available, if you want to check it out, from the jfwlite website.

I dunno what version of Ad Aware i was using way back when, but it was horhrhrhrhrhrhrrhrid! Try Spybot, it's supposed to be good, I've heard.

Tyr, I have spy sweep. Does spy bot locate and destroy both adwear and spywear? The reason why I have spy sweep up is my favs list on IE would always get slammed by stuff I didn't add.

well, in my opinion spysweeper is so good that i have lost several programs, including serious window's components, and spybot does so much things at the same time that my computer sometimes freeces, so I am using adaware 6.0

I've personally never had much difficulty with ad-aware 6. The only thing to really be aware of if you've never used it before is that a lot of what you need to do is done with the mouse, so you'll have to use your mouse pointer or jaws cursor depending on your screen reader of choice.

That's what I found so hard about Ad Aware. It was great and did the job marvelously, but all those unlabeled buttons and the mouse pointer ...

Thanks guys. I have been using spybot for about. 6 or 8 months. the accessibility is grhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrheat! about 99 percent accessible. only difficulty is the scan results window. I installed adaware about 2 weeks ago but am seriously considering uninstalling it because having to use the jaws cursor all the time is driving me nuts! at least, on the antivirus program I use, I only need to use the jaws cursor for the first dialog!

I haven't tried Ad-Ware yet but I do have Spybot S&D. The thing about these programs tho is that they BOTH pick up valuable things that the other doesnt catch from what I have heard from people who use both.

there were some scripts for the ad-aware program at jfwlite.com. I think i still have these though. i don't have so much trouble with the jfw cursor since the scripts make it a little more accesible. I only use the jaws cursor when updating the program. Well with ad-aware I haven't run into any problems with my registry, just I installed a program which sponsor was the worse thing ever but could get rid of it.

I think add-aware SE is more accessible because the scripts read the list. I use to love spybot until 1.3 came out but the accessibility in 1.3 is just horrible. I emailed Patrick about it and never heard back from him.

same here, but with ad-aware, I e-mailed them regarding product accesibility and never got a responce back. Hmm. Have not try ad-aware second edition yet.

Steven has Spybot S&D 1.3, so If I look at his computer and get spyware (Like that stupid "Win this Supercomputer!" add), I'll get it running.
